Nobody's Home examines loss of local citizenry in the resort towns of the West. Given the rapid appreciation of real estate in amenity communities, how do you maintain a critical mass of locals to keep the town thriving? We believe there is a 'slow train coming,' as Bob Dylan says, which is headed toward the lovely places of the West. Without sufficient foresight, places like Sun Valley and Jackson and even Moab will suffer the same fate as Aspen. Case studies on Aspen, Basalt, Crested Butte and Switzerland portray potential solutions and convey lessons learned.
