After an argument with her boyfriend, Helen, a Norwegian student living in New York, discovers a mysterious homeless woman who doesn't speak English hiding out in her basement. Succumbing to lonliness and curiosity, she invites the homeless woman to stay in her apartment, which proves to be complicated when her boyfriend comes back home.
